Wu-Tang District

The Wu-Tang District is a part of Park Hill on Staten Island, dedicated to the legendary Wu-Tang Clan, a hip-hop group who came from the neighborhood. This area around Targee Street and Vanderbilt Avenue was officially named in 2019 to honor the group’s roots and the huge influence they’ve had on music and culture. Fun Fact: They  gave Staten Island their own nickname–Shaolin, which was inspired by kung-fu movies they used to watch in the city after taking the ferry over.

Eibs Pond

The Garibaldi Meucci Museum

The Garibaldi-Meucci Museum is located right outside Park Hill. It was created to celebrate the lives of two important Italians–Antonio Meucci, who many believe was the true inventor of the telephone, and Giuseppe Garibaldi, Former Deputy of the Kingdom of Italy. Housed in Meucci’s old home, the museum has exhibits and artifacts that dive into their contributions to both Italy and the U.S. It’s also used for hosting events that celebrate Italian culture.

The Staten Island Liberian Community Association, Inc.

During the First Liberian Civil War from 1989 to 1997, many Liberians fled to Staten Island, especially in Park Hill. The strong Liberian community in the neighborhood is supported by the Staten Island Liberian Community Association (SILCA), which helps newcomers settle in socially, financially, and emotionally. The residents often hold community festivals where they share food and traditions from their cultures. Staten Island is thought to have the largest Liberian population outside of Africa.

P.S. 57 is a New York City Department of Education elementary school located right in Park Hill. The nearest public intermediate school is I.S. 49 and the nearest high school is Concord High School. Bright Minds Academy also is in Park Hill.
